If We Build It, Will They Come?

The wildlife underpass is being built where migrating deer and elk are known to cross Hwy 21. Yet, fences are the key to guiding deer, elk and other wildlife to the underpass and safe passage under Hwy 21.

$756,000 of federal stimulus funds will build the bridge, underpass and part of the wildlife fence within the Hwy 21 right of way. Additional money needs to be raised to build the largest portion of the fence on the east side of the highway.

The Boise River Wildlife Linkage Partnership plans to raise the $250,000 necessary to build the remaining 1.5 miles of wildlife fence. This includes two jump outs, one ATV gate and one maintenance gate, as well. Click here to see the map of the proposed fence line.

Donate Today

For every $25 dollar contribution one linear foot of fence can be built.  As of July 2010, organizations and businesses have donated $25,500; financing 1020 linear feet of the fence. BRWLP has 6900 feet to go.

Join us to complete the wildlife fence. Every contribution, large or small, will help to protect people and wildlife.

Make a donation by check to the City of Boise Heritage Trust Fund. In the memo line of the check write “wildlife fencing” to direct your donation to the Hwy 21 project account. Send this tax deductible donation to:
